Archimedes of Syracuse

Young Archimedes leaves his hometown of Syracuse to study in Alexandria, where sciences and arts flourish under the patronage of Ptolemy. In the captivating world of Ancient Greece (270 BC), mathematical wonders, great inventions, and human relationships intertwine.

Archimedes' travel companions are Mnemnon, an experienced mercenary, and Anteia, an Egyptian slave girl whose origins seem to hold a secret. Along their eventful journey, new inventions, such as the approximation of pi and Archimedes' screw, which are still known today, also come into being.

The plot twists of the story draw inspiration from Menander's plays, and the wonders of mathematics unfold to the reader in an easily accessible way.
