Maritime Consul

Rome's war against Carthage has become a tedious siege in Sicily. Sea captain Gaius Lutatius Catulus knows that Rome cannot win the war without a new fleet. However, the Senate believes they cannot afford to build one. Lutatius withdraws to tend to his farm, but the goddess of fate offers a new opportunity: the soldier in him overcomes the farmer.

Naval Consul is a historical novel that depicts the naval war between Rome and Carthage through the voice of a first-person narrator. The story culminates in the Battle of the Aegates Islands on March 10, 241 BC.
